AutoBlot Studio
Security & data

How your data is protected

Research data is sensitive — unpublished results, identifiable images, and work that took months to generate. Here's exactly how AutoBlot Studio stores it, who can access it, and what happens if you want it deleted.

Your data stays yours

Encrypted storage, private by default
Your blot images, analysis results, statistics datasets, and lab book entries are stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL) and are only accessible to your account — and, where you explicitly enable it, the lab groups you choose to share with. Your data is never used to train AI models, and is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing.

Authentication
Sign-in and account security are handled by Clerk, which provides secure session management, password hashing, and optional multi-factor authentication. AutoBlot Studio never stores your password directly.

Payments
Billing is handled by Stripe. AutoBlot Studio does not see or store your card details — Stripe processes payments directly and securely.

Blotty (AI assistant) and your data

Blotty is stateless and minimal
When you ask Blotty a question, only the specific data needed to answer it — e.g. the current dataset values, graph type, or analysis results — is sent to Groq's API. Your full account, full dataset, images, and personal identifiers are not transmitted. Groq does not use this data for model training and does not retain it beyond the request.

Sharing & collaboration

Analyses are private to your account by default. Sharing only happens when you explicitly add an analysis to a lab group or send an invite — nothing is visible to other users unless you choose to share it. Group admins can see shared items and member lists for their own group only.

Hosting

AutoBlot Studio is hosted on Vercel, with data stored via Supabase. Both providers operate global infrastructure with industry-standard physical and network security controls.

Data retention & deletion

We retain your account and analysis data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing support@autoblotstudio.com — deletion requests are processed within 30 days.
